Does this replace Tally?

No. TallyPrime stays your system of record for statutory filing — this just removes the manual work of typing salary and fee data into it every month.

What exactly gets synced?

Payroll journal entries and fee vouchers/receipts — posted into Tally as proper vouchers (Journal, Receipt, Payment, Sales, Purchase). It does not create or sync master data (customers, vendors, stock items) in Tally, and there's no inventory sync — this is a financial voucher connector, not a full ERP-to-Tally data bridge.

Does this work with our existing accounting system, or do we need Tuling Financials/HCM?

Tally Connector is the bridge between your Tuling data and TallyPrime — it needs a Tuling ERP tenant with posted payroll or fee transactions to actually have something to sync. It's not designed to pull data out of a separate or legacy accounting system into Tally.

Can one install handle multiple campuses or Tally companies?

Each install maps to one Tally company and one Tuling tenant. Multi-campus groups typically run one connector instance per campus, each configured for that campus's ledger conventions.

What happens if our internet connection drops?

The agent retries automatically (3 attempts with backoff) and reconnects once the connection is back. Nothing is lost — pending vouchers stay queued until they're successfully posted.

Overview

Tally Connector exists for one reason: manually typing payroll and fee entries into Tally every month is slow, repetitive, and error-prone. It’s a small Windows application that installs on the same PC as TallyPrime, checks in with your Tuling data every minute, and posts anything new directly into Tally as a proper voucher — automatically, safely, and with a full record of what happened.

How it actually works

TallyPrime provides its own standard integration mechanism — an XML Gateway your accounting team can enable in a few clicks (F12 → Data Synchronization). Tally Connector talks to that gateway locally, so there’s no fragile screen-scraping or unofficial workaround — just Tally’s own supported integration path, driven automatically instead of by hand.
